Leon Michael Hart (born April 9, 1986) is an American football coach and former player. He currently serves as a running back coach at the University of Michigan. Hart played college football as a running back at the University of Michigan from 2004 to 2007 and set the career running record for the Michigan Wolverines with 5,040 yards. He was selected by the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL) in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Hart played three seasons for the Colts, mostly in a back-up role, before he was released by the team in the spring of 2011. Michigan football’s running back coach Mike Hart collapsed on the sidelines during the first quarter of Michigan’s game against Indiana on Saturday.
With 4:54 in the quarter – after Indiana scored a touchdown to tie the game, 7-7, and Michigan’s special team unit was ready to take the field – Hart collapsed suddenly while standing near midfield. .
“It’s definitely one of those life events that you sit back and you’re in shock,” said quarterback J.J. McCarthy said. “Especially for Coach Hart, because he’s someone who was looking forward to this game, he marked it on his schedule.
“Just all prayers go out for him… I’m glad to hear that he’s fine but this definitely caught us.”
Halfway through the airing of the game, Fox host Rob Stone reported that Hart suffered a seizure.
His team gathered around him and everyone on both sides of the field knelt. Medical personnel turned to Hart and built a barricade around him, holding towels to block the view from the shore. After about 10 minutes, Hart was brought on a stretcher and placed on a cart that carried him off the field.

Hart suddenly collapsed to the ground and required emergency attention from trainers, who put him on a cart and removed him from the field to attract further attention.
From there, Hart was taken by ambulance to a local hospital to receive a more detailed examination by doctors.

According to the Fox broadcast, Hart suffered a seizure, and wound up on the ground after Indiana scored an extra point in the quarter with 4:57 to tie the score to 7. Michigan players cleared the bench and spread across the field, many falling to one knee.
Several Michigan coaches, including head coach Jim Harbaugh, were standing nearby while the coaches worked on Hart.
Hart was put on a stretcher and carried off the field, but he was shaking his head and hand as the Hoosiers coach came onto the field to see the former Indiana running back coach.
Hart left Memorial Stadium for further evaluation at the hospital.
