The 34-year-old Cabrera has been married to his wife, Rosangel, since 2002. They have two daughters and one son together.

Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera, who for five years led a double-life with a mistress in Florida and fathered two children with her, has been ordered to provide those children with the same lifestyle and opportunities enjoyed by the children from his marriage.

This has been a sticking point in the 18-month-old legal slug fest in a Florida court between the millionaire baseball player and his former lover.

2003

Cabrera’s streak nearly stopped at nine because of an offseason in which the Tigers contemplated a large-scale roster transformation, but they opted for the status quo.

“I’ve got to appreciate this,” Cabrera told MLB.com before the Tigers’ 6-5 topsy-turvy win over the Red Sox. “We’ve [kept] the team together one more year. We know a lot of guys are going to be free agents next year. But we have to take this shot.”

Cabrera turns 34 later this month. He has won a World Series, an American League Triple Crown and two AL Most Valuable Player Awards over nearly 14 years in the Major Leagues. Cabrera has the longest active tenure in Detroit of any player other than ace Justin Verlander.
