Domestic abuse
Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was taken to the police station after getting into an argument with his wife at their suburban Detroit home over the weekend.
Birmingham, Michigan Police Chief Richard Patterson said Rosengel Cabrera called 911 at 6 a.m. Saturday requesting police assistance. Police said a blood-alcohol test found Miguel Cabrera was at 0.26, three times the legal limit for driving. “We determined that both of them contributed to the domestic assault,” Patterson said. “It was minor in nature.”
No charges would be filed, and both Cabreras refused medical care. Cabrera was picked up at the police station by Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
“This is a personal situation and I’m not at liberty to discuss it further,” Dombrowski said.
In the Tigers’ game that night, which began approximately 12 hours after Cabrera left the police station, Cabrera went 0 for 4 and stranded six runners in a 5–1 loss to the Chicago White Sox. He is down to 1 in 15.
