Coach Dennis Allen said on Thursday that Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas will be placed on injured reserve and will likely miss the rest of the season.

Allen said Thomas had dislocated his other toe and would have surgery to fix it.

“I’m not going into any deadline right now. I don’t know that,” Allen said. “He’s about to go to IR. I don’t think he’ll be able to come back this year.”

Thomas has not played a game since suffering a toe injury against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3. Allen was asked earlier in the season why Thomas did not go on injured reserve at the time of the injury, and the coach stated that the initial timetable would likely result in a receiver’s return around the four-game mark, noting that the IR was “of that caliber”. It was a difficult decision to keep the player” if there was any chance he could come back prematurely.

Allen said last week that he is confident Thomas and wide receiver Jarvis Landry, who have not played since the Saints’ game against the Minnesota Vikings in London in Week 4, will play again this season. But, according to Allen on Thursday, recent tests indicated that Thomas was not recovering as expected.

Injury update

The Saints announced on Thursday that Thomas is having toe surgery and is being placed on injured reserve. Head coach Dennis Allen indicated he expected the All-Pro wideout to miss the remainder of the season.

After missing the entirety of the 2020 season and 2021 season with an ankle injury, Thomas returned with high hopes of re-establishing himself as one of the NFL’s premier pass catchers. He was productive through the first three games of the 2022 campaign, scoring 16 goals for 171 receiving yards and three touchdowns. However, the injury bug struck again as a leg injury would sideline him for the next five matches. And now another season has been lost for the 2019 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

This is another big blow to the crime of a saint who is devastated by injury. Fellow veteran receiver Jarvis Landry has recalled important times as well as quarterback Jameis Winston. Rookie wideout Chris Olev has led the team in receiving eight games.

If their salary will be guaranteed on the roster on the third day of the league year 2021. His salary will be guaranteed on the third day of the league year 2022. There are fifth day of league year roster bonuses in each of the last three years, as well as game roster bonuses in the last two contract years. The maximum value of the contract is $100 million if certain escalators are earned. Thomas’s cap charge increased by $4.5 million in 2019 due to the expansion.

Thomas turned $11.6 million of his 2021 salary into a signing bonus, creating $8.7 million in cap space for the Saints. His cap count would increase by $2.9 million in each of the final three years of his contract.

Michael Thomas season likely to end after surgery

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen told reporters he expected WR Michael Thomas to end the season with toe surgery at the end of the season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

fantasy effect

Thomas has missed most of the season so far due to a foot injury, and will now be placed on IR following surgery on his toe. The injury is expected to leave Thomas out of the rest of the season. Thomas’ absence put rookie WR Chris Olev in the driver’s seat to reduce the Saints’ offense, and Thomas is not required to be held on any roster in the re-draft league going forward.
