Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan reached many amazing milestones during his illustrious basketball career. Unfortunately, he’s about to hit a milestone off the court that he might not be too happy with.

In a story first reported by the Chicago Tribune, in late February, Jordan’s Highland Park mansion will remain unsold on the real estate market for 10 years.

The property is 7.37 acres. This home for basketball royalty is more than 56,000 square feet of living space, which includes a full basketball court and an entrance hall emblazoned with MJ’s famous jersey number: 23.

But are those one-of-a-kind features helping or hurting the appeal of the property?

Rodkin says the home is worth $14.855 million, which hasn’t budged in seven years and was originally listed in March 2012 for $29 million, not surprising given that the 1995 property hasn’t sold.

“It’s a very specific house,” Rodkin said. “It was built for Jordan and his family. It was built for a tall person. The kitchen cabinets and counters are high, things like that. But the other thing is that it’s two miles from the edge of the lake.”

No one has ever paid more than $8 million for anything off the shore of the lake, Rodkin says in Highland Park. The MJ compound is located on the west side of Highway 41.

The Last Dance documentary chronicled Michael Jordan’s winning career with the Chicago Bulls. But The Last Chance may describe the fate of his famous Chicago home that has been lying on the market for years.

Icon’s Highland Park, Illinois home was recently re-priced, listing for $14.9 million (nearly half its original $29 million asking price). On the market since 2012, 2700 Point Lane has attracted some renewed interest after ESPN’s critically acclaimed Jordan documentary. This could be Air Jordan’s final trophy from their bulls heyday.

Chicago’s real estate market has been as harsh for Jordan as the Detroit Pistons’ “Bad Boys” defense. A flat market could better explain the recent price drop during the current coronavirus pandemic.
