Sack total
Rookie linebacker Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys is having a monster season, especially for the month of November. He’s already won Defensive Rookie of the Month and most say his bid for Defensive Rookie of the Year is absolutely strong. Is it crazy to say that his rookie season has been so impressive that he might even start a new bid for NFL Defensive Player of the Year?
It may seem like a stretch at first. But their stats might convince you otherwise.
So far this season, Parsons has 72 tackles (16 for losses), two forced fumbles and ten sacks. He has had more sacks than any other Cowboys rookie since 1982—the year’s sacks were added to the box score.
How many sacks does have
Dallas Cowboys rookie linebacker Micah Parsons is already one of the best defensive players in the NFL. Parsons is most likely to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, but he would like to join the great Lawrence Taylor as the only other rookie to ever win Defensive Player of the Year.
With four weeks left in the schedule, it looks like the Cowboys are going to go on as far as Parsons goes, especially with Dak Prescott struggling since returning from injury. Parsons has 12 sacks so far in his first NFL season, and is 2.5 away from breaking the record for most sacks by a rookie set by Jevon Caress in 1999.

Will Micah Parsons Break the NFL Rookie Sacking Record?
Moving on to Week 14, Parsons had 10 sacks. This was just 4.5 sacks short of Jevon Cares’ record of 14.5. With Parsons recording 7.5 sacks in the five games leading up to Dallas’ competition against Washington in Week 14, he is certainly on pace. Add to this that Parsons had 2 sacks in the first half of the game in Washington, and is now just 2.5 sacks behind the Cares.
The interesting element to all records in 2021 and beyond is how we judge them. Kearse set his record in a 16-game season in 1999. If takes Parsons to the 17th game of the season, does his record match that of Tarak?
