Kelly, 33, will earn $5.25 million in 2022, the final year on the contract he signed upon returning to the United States after spending four years with the Sky Wyverns in Korea. Here is the salary breakdown of the new contract, via Piecorro:
2022: $1 million signing bonus (plus $5.25 million salary)
2023: $8 million
2024: $8 million
2025: $7 million club option ($1 million buyout)
The total guarantee is $18 million. Arizona originally signed Kelly, in December 2018, to a two-year, $5.5 million contract that included club options for 2021 ($4.25 million) and 2022 ($5.25 million). His total compensation from 2019-24 will be just over $30 million when you take into account the salary ratio during the 2020 season.
