Upon their arrival in Memphis, the Grizzlies retained the same uniforms they wore in their final season in Vancouver, but with the city name emblazoned on both the white and black uniform.

Turquoise and red served as the accent colors. After one season, the Grizzlies made a minor tweak, replacing the “G-bear” logo with the “howling bear” logo on the right leg. The “ball and claws” logo was also added above the player’s name.

Memphis made the playoffs last year after beating the Golden State Warriors in a play-in game. The Grizzlies return star Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., who will be fully recovered from injury, hopefully. Another significant move was securing Rajon Rondo and Patrick Beverley in a trade for Eric Bledsoe. This crowds the backcourt for the Grizzlies, but it ultimately helps them out in their quest to free up salary-cap space for the future.

The starting lineup for the Grizzlies should not change much with Ja Morant at point guards, Dillon Brooks at the two, Kyle Anderson on the wing, and Jaren Jackson Jr. and Steven Adams in the frontcourt.

Morant’s head was near the rim as he controlled the ball’s trajectory by the top of the square on the backboard, and he collected the ball once back on the court to spark a Grizzlies fast break toward the other basket.

“Obviously, it starts with timing and also just stalking your prey,” said LeBron James, who had the most significant chase-down block in league history in the closing minutes of Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals. “And that’s exactly what Ja was doing that whole play, and I saw it happening.

“Didn’t know he was going to do it in that fashion, but he got rockets in his calf muscles, and it was a spectacular play. It was a great play. Salute.”
