Daniil Sergeyevich Medvedev is a Russian professional tennis player. He is ranked world No. 2 by the Association of Tennis Professionals, which is his career-high singles ranking first achieved on 15 March 2021. He has won thirteen ATP Tour singles titles, including the 2021 US Open and 2020 ATP Finals.

Daria hails from Russia’s capital, Moscow. The pair tied the knot before he played in the Davis Cup for Russia back in September 2018.

“She played tennis until she was 17 or 18, but because of injuries she couldn’t reach the desired level,” Daniil has previously said.

“Nevertheless, it’s great that she understands tennis. She knows that we can’t go shopping before the game. Understands that I can be busy from 8 am until the evening.

“Perhaps it’s not easy to get used to it when you don’t understand anything in tennis. It helped me to become better as a person and a player.”

Medvedev has a strong baseline play with a powerful backhand and effective slice. He reached a career-high ranking of World No 2 in the ATP Rankings in March 2021.

Medvedev won his first Grand Slam title at the US Open 2021 after defeating World No.1 Novak Djokovic in the finals. He ended his 27-match winning streak in the finals and denied him the Calendar Slam as well.

The biggest title of Medvedev’s career came at the 2020 ATP Finals, where he defeated Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal en route to the finals. There, he defeated Dominic Thiem for the title.

Daniil Medvedev’s biggest early achievement came at the Tokyo Open 2018, where he entered the event as a qualifier and conquered his maiden ATP 500 title.

His best Grand Slam result came at the US Open 2021, after he won the first major title. Before this, he has played the finals of the US Open 2019 and of the Australian Open 2021.
