The unreliability of the 2022 Red Bull car has handed F1 world champion Max Verstappen a starting mountain to claim if he wants to go back-to-back.
For the second time in three races, Verstappen failed to finish with obvious engine and overheating issues, forcing him to stop on the 39th lap of the Australian Grand Prix.
“Stop the car, please stop the car,” his race engineer told him over the radio as he came out of turn one and two premises.
“I smell some weird fluid. Everything is sh**,” replied Verstappen.
Sky F1 pit lane reporter Ted Kravitz explained later in the race that Red Bull does not expect to know what happened for several days, potentially until they return to their UK base.
