Stewards

Max Verstappen has to report to the stewards after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver will have to explain the moment he decided to brake, after which Lewis Hamilton hit his back.

Gear box

Formula 1 championship leader Max Verstappen is understood to have avoided a gearbox change following his qualifying crash in Saudi Arabia.

Verstappen missed out on pole position in Jeddah after hitting the wall at the final corner on a lap that was poised to take him fastest. The hit was big enough to prompt concern it could have damaged the gearbox in his Red Bull.

Earlier this year, Monaco poleman Charles Leclerc failed to start the race after his end-of-qualifying crash ultimately triggered a terminal mechanical problem that was only discovered on the way to the grid on Sunday.

Penalty

Max Verstappen doesn’t like penalties in Formula 1. As he said following the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, “that’s not how I grew up watching Formula 1”. But in some ways, it’s exactly what F1 has always been about.

Crash

Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen has been found at fault for the collision with Lewis Hamilton on Lap 37 of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and handed a penalty – but not one which affects the standings in the championship race.

The duo collided after Red Bull driver Verstappen was ordered to cede position to Hamilton, braking in the centre of the lane and causing his Mercedes rival to run into the back of his car, with some damage resulting to Hamilton’s front wing.

Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton was left furious after coming into contact with Max Verstappen at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after the Red Bull star slowed heavily in front of the Mercedes man.

The finale to this F1 season is almost here ahead of Abu Dhabi this week and the sport has reached a feverish level after the drama in Saudi Arabia as Lewis Hamilton defeated Max Verstappen to draw level in the battle to become the 2021 F1 world champion.
