Meet Kelly Piquet, who is regularly seen in the Red Bull paddock cheering on her partner Max Verstappen.

The Brazilian beauty, 32, began dating Verstappen, who dethroned Lewis Hamilton as F1 champ in a thrilling finish in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, at the end of 2020.

Since then, their relationship has bloomed as the Dutch star’s rise has continued. Piquet is a model, born in Germany, who regularly shows off her curves on Instagram to over 500,000 followers.

Hamilton had been coasting towards bettering Michael Schumacher’s seven world crowns, prompting Red Bull team principal Christian Horner to say: “We need a miracle.”

It came in the unlikely shape of Latifi, who crashed his Williams, with Dutchman Verstappen promptly pitting for fresh tyres while Hamilton did not.

When racing resumed for the 58th and closing lap at the Yas Marina circuit Verstappen barged past Hamilton to take the chequered flag, sparking joy on the Red Bull pitwall and fury at Mercedes.

Race control had initially indicated that no cars would be allowed to unlap themselves — presumably so that the race could get back underway before the final lap — but then changed that decision to the five cars between Verstappen and Hamilton after Red Bull team boss Christian Horner radioed Masi to raise his objection to the original decision.

When Masi gave permission for the five cars to unlap and restarted the race on the same lap, it effectively gave Verstappen a clear shot at the victory, as his fresh, soft tyres gave him a significant performance advantage over Hamilton’s 43-lap-old hard tyres.
