Ankle:
The Braves received an early scare and the Astros appeared to catch an early break on a close play at first base involving Atlanta starter Max Fried and Houston left fielder Michael Brantley in the bottom of the first inning of Tuesday night’s World Series Game 6 at Minute Maid Park.
After Jose Altuve singled to start the frame, Brantley followed by hitting a ground ball to Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman, who fielded the ball and tossed it to Fried with Brantley sprinting down the line.
World Series:
According to Rule 5.09(c)(3), Brantley could have been called out on an appeal because he didn’t touch first base, but the Braves did not appeal and he was allowed to stay at first.
Fried was charged with an error on the play and immediately evaluated by Atlanta’s training staff.
