Who will replace
The Atlanta Falcons will have a new quarterback under center when the 2022 season calls. The team announced on Monday that it has signed Marcus Mariota to a two-year contract.
The deal comes soon after Atlanta traded franchise legend Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts in a blockbuster deal earlier on Monday.
By trading Ryan in, the Falcons hit a $40 million dead cap. It has it that he had no real financial avenue to trade for Cleveland Browns’ Baker Mayfield or San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Matt Ryan will leave the Falcons – for whom he has played for Indianapolis since the start of his NFL career 14 seasons ago.
Earlier this offseason, the Colts traded Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders. Since then, the Colts have been pursuing Ryan, according to ESPN’s Diana Rassini, although discussions were reportedly kept quiet in case the deal failed.
In addition, Rossini reports that Ryan does not have a no-trade clause and has the option of “refusing to leave”.
Ryan, 36, has a contract of two years and $54 million left. Last season, the quarterback averaged 7.1 yards per effort and threw 20 touchdowns in 12 interceptions as the Falcons went 7-10 and missed the postseason.
