Skaggs was found dead in July 2019 in a hotel room in Texas after suffocating from his own vomit. The Toxicology report concluded that Skaggs was under the influence of fentanyl, oxycodone and alcohol.

According to ESPN, Harvey, at the time a Skaggs teammate with the Angels, received a subpoena and was granted immunity from prosecution for testifying.

“Sure, it was addressed,” Collins told the New York Post. “Again, it’s Matt, and one time he talked about, ‘I should just kill myself.’ … you try your best to deal with it. We definitely tried to get her help, got her some help.”

Collins admitted he was not surprised by Tuesday’s drug use revelations.

“There was a time when I addressed an off-the-field issue with one of the other guys on the team and his statement was, ‘Well, I’m not doing what Matt Harvey is doing.’ I said, ‘It’s not about Matt Harvey, it’s about you.’ I tried to get out of that topic as soon as possible. Was there knowledge in the clubhouse? Without question.”
