What happened to
Matt Carpenter’s career revival is the talk of baseball with the Yankees
The former Cardinal has been criticizing home runs and making history for the Yankees. There’s talk of baseball in the return of Matt Carpenter’s career.
Matt Carpenter and his new mustache have become the talk of baseball in the past few weeks.
After a forgettable end in St. Louis, where he scored .176 runs with just seven home runs as the Cardinals in 2020 and 2021, Carpenter has found a home in New York.
Carpenter started 2022 with the Texas Rangers, but did not make the major league roster and was released by the team after 21 games in the minors.
Any team in baseball could have carpenters for pennies on the dollar after their release from Texas. It was the team with the best record in the league called with a major league contract worth $1 million.
Wife
Carpenter met his wife, Mackenzie, when the two were in high school. Player Wives does a good job of summarizing things.
The two dated through the ups and downs which presented themselves in amateur baseball. The best story comes in a 2011 Sports Illustrated profile by Jeff Perlman.
That’s where we first learned about Carpenter and the gift his wife once gave him while they were dating: a Lance Berkman poster.
When Perlman suggested that he move it down the wall of his parents’ house while he had built it for older people, Carpenter defied the suggestion: “It always hangs there, an inspiration. As in. Anyone would choose to take that kind of career. So why mess with a good thing?”
Perhaps the poster is a bit of a fortune, as Carpenter played a minimal role with the 2011 Cardinals team, which eventually went on to defeat the Texas Rangers in the World Series.
Husband
Mackenzie Carpenter is the wife of baseball player Matt Carpenter.
Mackenzie is from Athens, GA. She is a singer cum songwriter.
He began singing in his church choir before venturing into country music.
Mackie believes that his father is his inspiration. He encouraged her to write songs from a very young age, while she learned to play the guitar from her two older brothers.
Mackenzie and Matt met in high school and their friendship began when Mackenzie presented Matt a framed poster of his childhood hero, Lance Berkman.
The couple tied the knot on December 10, 2011 in the city of Missouri, Texas.
They welcomed their first child, a girl, on May 25, 2016. Then a year and a half later, they welcomed a baby boy.
