The 2016 Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee has dedicated his entire life to the sport and its competitors. Reyland, 52, died on Wednesday after a recent illness. He is survived by his wife, Michelle, and his father, Marv, and mother Marlis. The news of his demise spread on social media, resulting in several tributes to him.

“Mark Ryland. Great partner. Great coach. Great man. Great friend,” Iowa coach Tom Brands posted on Twitter. Tom, his brother Terry and Ryland were Hawkeye teammates on the national title teams and longtime friends, who Back in their days in Eagle Grove and Sheldon were dating.

It was the toughest of all the wrestlers it coached. Nate and Nick Moore competed in eight state finals and won six wrestling titles for Ryland. The bonds they formed are beyond the game.

“Ryland Moore was family to family,” said Nate Moore. “He was like another father figure to my brother and me and he and Michelle were great friends with my parents.

Cause Of Death

Ryland coached the Trojans from 1999 to 2018. He led the West to seven state titles – five dual team championships in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2011, the fourth most in state history, and two more traditional state crowns in 2006. and 2007.
