Marion Sylvester Barber III (June 10, 1983 – June 1, 2022) was an American football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons. After playing college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007 during his six-year stint with the Cowboys. He played for the Chicago Bears in 2011.

In a statement released late Wednesday, the team said they were “heartbroken” by his tragic death.
Frisco police said that at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a call about a welfare concern at an apartment in the 9400 block of Stratton Drive that was believed to have been leased by a barber.

Barber, who grew up playing at Vezzata High School in the Twin Cities, starred for the University of Minnesota from 2001–04, rushing for 3,276 yards and 35 touchdowns. He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
