Marcus Ardell Taulauniu Mariota (born October 30, 1993) is an American football quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted second overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2015 NFL Draft. Mariota played college football at Oregon, where he was the starting quarterback from 2012 to 2014. As a junior in 2014, Mariotta became the first University of Oregon athlete, as well as the first Hawaii-born athlete to win the Heisman Trophy.

Free agent quarterback Marcus Mariota has agreed to a two-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced Monday.
The move was rumored to be in the works shortly after the Falcons traded Matt Ryan to the Colts, and the team quickly worked to fill their quarterback vacancy. Mariotta would be reunited with head coach Arthur Smith, who was a tight end coach and later offensive coordinator at Tennessee. Mariota is a former No. 2 overall pick that has been relegated to backup duty over the years. But he’s still just 28 years old and will likely have the opportunity to earn an early gig and revive his career in Atlanta.
