Wife
Genesis Ozuna, wife of Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcel Ozuna, was recently arrested on charges of domestic battery.
According to Fox Sports 640’s Andy Slater, police charged Genesis with domestic battery when he allegedly hit Marcel with a soap pot, leaving a “small wound” on his face.
Per TMZ Sports, Genesis was booked into a Miami-Dade prison on May 29 after a two-week investigation and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
TMZ noted court records show that a motion has been made to modify a preliminary injunction that Genesis stay away from her husband.
Genesis and Marcel were married in 2017 while he was playing with the Miami Marlins.
Net Worth
Ozuna signed a one-year contract with the Atlantis Braves worth $18 million. Ozuna was the opening outfielder to debut for the Braves in 2020. He became the first National League player to score three home runs in a single game at Fenway Park.
Contract
Ozuna, 31, is in his third season in Atlanta and the second year of a $65 million, four-year contract. He hit .338 and led the National League in 2020 with 18 homers and 56 RBIs, but fell below .215 for two consecutive seasons.
Status
New details have emerged from Friday’s arrest of Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcel Ozuna, and it looks like the two-time All-Star tried to use his celebrity status to evade punishment.
On Friday morning, Ozuna was detained by an officer from the Norcross Police Department and booked into a Gwynette County Jail on charges of failure to maintain his street and driving under the influence. The 31-year-old was pulled over in his black 2021 Mercedes-Benz at around 3:30 AM ET after he was caught speeding in the 35 MPH zone and couldn’t stay in his lane.
Return
Following his 2021 arrest, Ozuna was placed on administrative leave during a Major League Baseball investigation and missed Atlanta’s World Series championship run.
MLB suspended Ozuna for 20 games in November as part of its domestic violence policy, allowing him to return for the start of this season.
Ozuna apologized to his teammates and fans at spring training in March.
“My fans, I’m going to give you the best and I’m going to be a better person, and I’m sorry,” Ozuna said at the start of spring training.
Ozuna completed a pretrial diversion program under conditions provided by the Fulton County District Attorney’s office to drop previous charges. The program involved three to six months of supervision.
They were also ordered to complete a 24-week Family Violence Intervention Program, at least 200 hours of community service, and an anger management course.
