Trade
Just days after the trade of 2017 NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton for the New York Yankees, the Miami Marlins would make another important trade to send outfielder Marcel Ozuna to the St. Louis Cardinals on December 14, 2017.

A two-time All-Star with Miami (2016–17), Ozuna also won a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger in 2017 and, despite not playing for the organization since that season, is still the highest in Marlins history in the categories. The Atlanta Braves signed Marcel Ozuna to a lucrative four-year deal worth $65 million in February 2021. In 155 games since the start of the 2021 campaign, he has compiled .214 BA, .271 OBP, and .381 SLG with 27. Homer and 153 K.
Despite their stats that aren’t compelling to begin with, there is no excuse for domestic violence or endangering others on the street.
The latest developments, along with their previous record, could allow the Braves to consider trading before the end of their contract. For now, the franchise is expected to announce a form of approval. We don’t know yet what its limit will be.
The league committee has not announced their own sentencing, and it is unlikely that they will. MLB does not have a formal DUI suspension policy.
Toronto Blue Jays coach Pete Walker was arrested for DUI last spring. High-profile names such as Miguel Cabrera, Shin-Soo Chu, Danny Duffy and Yovanni Gallardo have been to blame in recent years. However, none of them faced suspension.
Suspension
It’s less than 15 months since Ozuna was arrested on domestic violence charges related to a dispute with his wife.
That arrest led to a 20-game suspension that he served during the 2021 season.
Ozuna was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail for this DUI incident after 4.00 a.m. Friday and released after 8.00 p.m. on a bond of a little over $1,800, according to David O’Brien of The Athletic.
Ozuna didn’t play in the Braves’ 3-2 home win against the New York Mets on Thursday night.
The two-time All-Star has been batting .214 in 107 matches this season with 20 homers, 46 RBIs and 107 strikes.
