Contract

The Lakers are finalizing a two-year deal with center Marc Gasol, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe. The free-agent signing, which would pry Gasol away from several other interested contenders by offering a longer deal, requires some maneuvering on the part of Lakers vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka to manage the salary cap.

L.A. is trading center JaVale McGee and a future second-round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers to help make room for Gasol, a source told Wojnarowski. Cleveland is sending Jordan Bell and Alfonzo McKinnie to the Lakers in the deal, sources said. Gasol will be signing for the equivalent of the veteran’s minimum salary for a player with 10-plus years of service in the league of $2.56 million per year, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks. However, because Gasol will be signing a two-year deal, L.A. will not receive the typical cap relief that comes from signing a player to the veteran’s minimum.

Wife

Marc Gasol

Cristina Blesa is married to her boyfriend, Spanish NBA player Marc Gasol who currently plays for Toronto Raptors. The lovebirds remained as a boyfriend and girlfriend for quite long before getting hitched. Blesa always remained by her partner Gasol’s side.

Similarly, while interviewing, Marc admitted that his lover has helped him change some habits, and it developed more confidence in himself. Sources claimed that the two lived together for around six months in Memphis before marrying. Besides, the couple never faced conflicts that could turn their happy love life sour. Although the pair were dating for long, they successfully kept it behind the curtains.

Net Worth

As per several reports, the 36-year-old is estimated to have a net worth of $50 million as of 2021. Most of his net worth is acquired from his salary and endorsements.

According to Spotrac, Gasol signed a 2 year / $5,257,744 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, including $5,257,744 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $2,628,872.

Trade

The Los Angeles Lakers have traded the rights to Marc Gasol back to the Memphis Grizzlies, where the 36-year-old center spent his first 11 NBA seasons.

The Lakers also sent a second-round pick in 2024 and cash to Memphis on Friday in exchange for the draft rights to Chinese big man Wang Zhelin.

Championships

Marc Gasol became an NBA champion in 2019 after the Toronto Raptors had a magical run, led by Kawhi Leonard to the promised land. The Spanish big man was a key piece for his team, too, and when he won that ring, the feeling was indescribable. He became the second Gasol to be an NBA champion but Pau, his older brother, wasn’t impressed by that.
