Ralph Rangnick’s team finally got the basics right as their United beat Burnley 3-1 at Old Trafford.
Scott McTominay and Cristiano Ronaldo scored on either side of their Ben Me goal to send United into sixth place as a reasonable improvement in their performance against Newcastle United on Monday.
While the away team was certainly competitive in the first half, United managed to watch the game with relative ease, although they were virtually under threat from Sean Dyche.
McTominay and Mason Greenwood notably impressed, while Luke Shaw made a case for replacing Alex Telles as the club’s starting left-back with an impressive performance.

A quick 45-minute start saw Manchester United shut down the noise and beat Burnley 3-1 at Old Trafford. Ralph Rangnick made six changes from a disappointing 1–1 draw against Newcastle, and the team responded.
Scott McTominay was the star of the show, moving into the role box-to-box and providing a constant threat to United. The 25-year-old rounded the opener and made another two blistering attempts which were both saved by world-class Wayne Hennessy.

Manchester United scored three goals in the first half in the Premier League for the first time since January as they pushed Burnley back into the top six by separating them at Old Trafford.
Scott McTominay’s eighth-minute curler from the edge of the field was United’s fastest top-flight goal since Scott scored twice in the opening minutes against Leeds more than 12 months ago.
Jadon Sancho’s deflected effort doubled the hosts’ advantage before Cristiano Ronaldo – who had wasted a fine opportunity after being sent clean after the game was still goalless – was hit by McTominay’s shot into a shot by Burnley keeper Wayne.
