Magomed Alibulatovich Ankalev (Russian: агоме́д либула́тович нкала́ев; born 2 June 1992) is a Russian professional mixed martial artist in the light heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Ankalev was the former light heavyweight champion of the World Fighting Championship Akhmat. As of March 14, 2022, he is ranked fourth in the UFC Light Heavyweight Rankings.

Watching the fight where he literally snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, Craig admitted that he completely dominated for the entire fight except for the last second. The 34-year-old recalled that at the time, beating Ankalev was key for him to avoid dismissal from the UFC, having previously led 1-2 in the promotion.
During a conversation with MMA on The Point, ‘Beerjev’ said:
“I remember just going out thinking, ‘Here’s it, my UFC career is over.’ And I literally beat three rounds and I remember, as he held my chin, he broke my ribs, I heard the crack, I could hear John Gooden, Dan Hardy and it came to the very end And I fired over that triangle and it resulted in the latest submission in UFC history and I stood up and I was like, ‘I just won.'”
