Madison La’ke Tae-Lan Hall Chalk (born July 2, 1992) is an American ice dancer. Along with her skating partner, Evan Bates, she is a two-time world medalist (silver in 2015, bronze in 2016), a three-time Grand Prix final silver medalist (2014-15, 2015-16, 2019-20). Two-time Four Continents Champion (2019, 2020), and three-time US National Champion (2015, 2020, 2022). Both represented the United States at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics.

Ethnic background
Bates started out as a solo figure skater, but when he began skating with a partner, he was initially linked with Emily Samuelson from 2000 to 2011.
Meanwhile, Chock began ice dancing with Greg Zuerlen in 2006, eventually winning a world junior title in 2009. Chock and Bates agreed to form a new ice-dance duo after Zuerlen retired in 2011.
The two started out as single skaters before deciding to get into ice dancing. Chalk began ice dancing when she was 12 years old, while Bates was a singles skater until she reached junior level, when she focused entirely on ice dancing.

Both have won two gold medals at the World Championships, three silver medals in the Grand Prix finals, three American champions and four continental champion medals. “I’m an only kid, so keep that in mind,” Madison said with a laugh.
“I don’t know what I would have done without him,” Barbara said before taking a break. “She makes us so proud, and she works so hard with all of her achievements. You know, it’s hard to put into words.”
