Chase Vinovich, his predecessor at the roster location rather than in the role, Wilson offers considerable experience in the kicking game. He saw action on five units during his final season with the Browns, and would likely play a similar role in New England: Cleveland used him on both punt and kickoff coverage, two return teams and a field goal/extra point blocking unit.
What does this mean for New England’s wage range? Despite Wilson being drafted after third-round pick Chase Vinovich in 2019, he hits a high salary cap: his salary for the upcoming season is $2.54 million, compared to Vinovich’s $965,000. With the only teams exchanging salaries as part of the move – the signing bonus remains with the parent club – the Patriots lost $1.58 million in cap space.
What happened to
In April Vinovich, 27, pulled out 5.5 sacks in each of his first two pro seasons. Last year, he saw slightly less action, as he performed in 13 games with zero starts and made only 11 tackles overall.

Wilson attended George Washington Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama. A five-star recruit, he committed to the University of Alabama to play college football.
college career
Wilson recorded eight tackles in all 15 games in 2016 as a true freshman in Alabama. As a sophomore in 2017, he played 12 games with two starts and had 40 tackles and four interceptions and one touchdown. [3] [4] As a junior in 2018, Wilson had 71 tackles, one sack and two interceptions. After the season, Wilson decided to skip his senior year and enter the 2019 NFL Draft.
