MJ: I believe that’s where our minds are right now, just getting ready for our next game, assessing the past but not too deeply, and then not worrying about the future and simply being where our feet are. I believe the older men have a powerful message. It’s just a matter of not letting something that happened during the bye week spoil something in the future. Just get some rest, spend time with your family, and stay safe.

Breathing

Mac Jones gave some insight into how he kept his calm in his NFL debut during his Wednesday press conference. Breathing is the answer. While on the bench, Jones performs breathing exercises to be focused, present, and peaceful. “Just slowing down your breathing in general,” Jones explained.

How to do Box Breathing

  • Step 1: Slowly inhale while counting to four. Take a deep breath and feel the air enter your lungs.
  • Step 2: Take a deep breath and hold it for 4 seconds. Avoid breathing or exhaling for more than 4 seconds.

  • Step 4: Repeat steps 1–3 until you’ve regained your equilibrium.

He appears to be selfless, responsible, and always has his colleagues’ backs–even when they make mistakes. If there’s one area where Jones’ leadership abilities may be enhanced, it’s in how he manages his own missteps.

We’ve seen it just after poor throws or interceptions–particularly the latter. Jones threw a costly pick-six in the Patriots’ exhilarating, but shattering 35-29 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and his reaction sparked a debate about his facial expressions in difficult situations.

The Patriots selected Perkins in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s been on the roster but hasn’t played in any of the team’s games so far this season. He’ll have to sit out at least three weeks, which means he won’t be back until the final week of the regular season.

The Patriots freed up a roster spot by putting Perkins on injured reserve. They have a number of players scheduled to return, including linebackers Harvey Langi and Josh Uche, who might fill the void. A player must be activated by 4 p.m. on Friday in order to be eligible to play on Saturday.
