The injury occurred in Jones’ final pass attempt of the day, an interception late in the fourth quarter, when he was struck by the Ravens’ defensive lineman Calais Campbell and immediately grabbed for his left ankle.

The 6-foot-8, 307-pound Campbell released his feet as he hit Jones and then landed on him. Jones’ left leg was bent and Campbell landed on his lower back.

Jones reached for his left ankle, rose and jumped over the side of the Patriots. While injured players typically entered the popup tent on the side, Jones instead went straight to the locker room.

Campbell explained what he saw in the play.

Campbell said, “The game is on the line, fourth quarter. He took a few plays to get the ball moving, and it’s just a full-court, pass-rush mentality.” “I think I was just trying to pressure him, hit him, make him uncomfortable and throw him an interception. And I think it was just a good football game. I hate to hurt him.” It’s the worst part of this game. You never want people to get hurt. I hope he’s okay.”
