Luka Doncic said that he may have taken some rest in the summer after his weight became a topic of discussion during Tuesday night’s loss to the Mavericks in the nets.
“I had a long summer,” Doncic admitted, adding that his conditioning should improve.
“I had the Olympics, I took three weeks off, and I took a little rest. Maybe too much. I just have to get back on track.”
The Mavericks guard joined the Slovenian national team’s training camp a few days after Dallas was knocked out of the playoffs, and then led his country to fourth place in its first Olympics.
During Tuesday’s game against Brooklyn, in which the Nets rallied from a 17-point deficit, TNT broadcaster Reggie Miller discussed the 22-year-old’s stamina, saying that “it’s probably the heaviest I’ve ever seen as Luca.” I’ve seen it now.”
