General admission and charity entries to the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 3 October are now sold out.

Officially opened in February 2013, runners in the Virgin Money London Marathon have been able to view the Shard from Tower Bridge since the glass-clad pyramid tower appeared on the skyline in 2010.

Built between 1886 and 1894, the bridge offers millions of spectators around the world an amazing view of you and thousands of other runners crossing the River Thames from south to north just before the halfway point in the marathon.

2022

The London Marathon is set to continue in its autumnal slot in 2022, with organizers confirming it will take place on Sunday 2 October.

It will be for the third consecutive year in October instead of its traditional April date, although it is scheduled to return in the spring of 2023.

London Marathon Events Director Hugh Brasher said: “We believe that by moving the 2022 event to October we give ourselves the best chance to welcome the world to the streets of London, raising millions for a good cause. and give people the certainty that their hard work and training will allow them to experience the wonderful crowd that excites them every step of the way from Greenwich to Westminster.”
