A shaky pass from the side, was content and confident on the ball – came out of his line quickly and brilliantly to deny Saka, and even found himself on throw-in duty.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be encouraged by his side’s determination not to wield at Anfield and now have home advantage to look forward to as both sides aim to book their place in February’s final against Chelsea at Wembley.
