Sixteen years after falling silver in Torino, 36-year-old Lindsay Jacobellis won the snowboard cross big final and eventually captured Olympic gold, as well as giving Team USA its first title of the 2022 Olympics.

It wasn’t due to an equipment malfunction or something easily explainable, but rather something even worse – showboating. It was the worst rookie mistake that could have happened. Jacobellis attempted a back-side method trick and went to grab her board. The grab recovered, but after making contact with the ground, Lindsay found herself on her back edge and then on the ground too far.
