Coach

Clearly, the Books coach isn’t thrilled with what happened next though.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times (on the Sports Day Tampa Bay podcast) Fournette did not participate in Tampa Bay’s organized team activities, and when he showed up for the mandatory minicamp, the coaches didn’t like what he saw:

“The coaches weren’t happy, and it’s an understatement when (Fornet) didn’t participate in the OTA, but then he shows up on a damn near 260 [pounds] weighing mandatory minicamp,” Stroud said. “And that’s not a good sign for the guy you just signed a three-year contract with.”

High School

Fournette had an almost unprecedented promotion to college in 2014 after an outstanding career at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans. He won the 2013 USA Today High School Football Offensive Player of the Year and was the top ranked recruit in the 2014 senior class according to ESPN, 247Sports.com, and CBS Sports. At LSU, he was a unanimous All-America selection after his sophomore season in 2015, setting a school single-season record with 1,953 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns and leading the nation with 162.8 rushing yards per game. Various experts considered him the best player in college football.

Dad

Fournet is the father of Lyric, 3, and Leonard IV, 1.

“(Fatherhood) is an amazing feeling – just to be able to take care of them and watch them grow,” Fournet said. “They already think I’m great.”

The proud papa said there’s a downside to having a young daughter and having one of the best races in the NFL.

“I think she already knows I have some money,” Fournet said. “I thought she’d ask me for a princess doll or something, and she asked me for a horse.”

Jr and Tom Brady

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently activated a running back Leonard Fournette for injured reserve, making him eligible to play in the Buccaneers’ divisional round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. In that game he ran for 52 yards and scored two touchdowns on 13 carries, arguably the greatest NFL player and perhaps even the greatest trash-talker of all time.

Quarterback Tom Brady appears to be a different player on and off the field since taking his talents south to Tampa Bay and leaving the New England cold behind. He seems more relaxed among the public and the media, almost as if he is able to enjoy football for the first time in years.
