Coach
Tomáš Berdych was born in Valašské Meziříčí, Moravia, Czechoslovakia, to parents Hana and Martin Berdych. He started playing tennis at the age of five at a local tennis center and showed promise early on. By eight, he had already won the Czech Republic’s premier boys’ competition in Pardubice. Berdych continued to shine as a junior, claiming the Czech Republic U-12 title.
Berdych’s standout Grand Slam performance came at Wimbledon in 2010, where he reached the final but fell to Rafael Nadal in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4. Over his career, he made it to six Grand Slam semifinals and won the prestigious Paris Masters in 2004. Despite his remarkable talent, Berdych’s era was defined by fierce competition, as he often faced the dominance of tennis’s “Big Three” during their peak.
