With the United States national team and the Miami Heat, he therefore wore the number 6, choosing the number in tribute to his eldest son, LeBron James Jr., who was born on October 6, 2004.

Why has the number changed now?
6 in the movie Space Jam 2, so this change may bode well for increased sales of the shirt for lucrative marketing reasons.

New number

LeBron James’ playing career has always seen him wearing two numbers: No. 23 and No. 6, and with the Los Angeles Lakers star switching the jersey to No. 6 for the 2021 season, many are wondering why.

Throughout his life, James has worn the number 23 in tribute to his idol, Michael Jordan, and will only change to the number 6 when the rules state that double-digit numbers are not allowed.

During the off-season, LeBron James decided to change his jersey number with the Los Angeles Lakers.

After wearing the number 23 during his first three seasons with the franchise, James changed it to the number 6.

James wore the number 6 during the four seasons he spent there with the Miami Heat. He won titles with the organization in back-to-back years.

Now back at No. 6 for the first time in sports as a Laker, James explained why he made the switch.

“It’s always been a part of me, to be honest,” James said. “Six means a lot to me, from my family and numbers and things of that nature to what I believe in and things like that, but my mindset doesn’t change.”

James explained how he still has the same mindset.

“Going out there, being an overall basketball player, trying to dominate all aspects of the game and being a great teammate,” James said. “And being a great leader.”
