Career earnings
James earned $387 million per spot in his first 19 years in the NBA. He is set to make $44.5 million in 2022–23, which could have been the final year of his contract with the Lakers, but will add another $48.6 million per year to his latest deal.
The higher pay won’t be the biggest in the NBA, even after the expansion. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is set to make $53.8 million a year in his latest deal, which will jump to $59.6 million in 2025-26.
Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beale will also make more than $50 million a year in his new five-year deal.
James still holds the career record and is signed through his 22nd year in the NBA.
The 37-year-old has also accumulated assets from the court, reaching a net worth of more than $1 billion in June, according to Chase Peterson-Withhorn of Forbes. He has earned an estimated $900 million during his career in advertising and other business ventures, according to Forbes.
In 2022, James was the second highest-paid athlete in the world, behind only soccer star Lionel Messi, according to Forbes. This came from an estimated $41.2 million on the court and $80 million from it.
Nike contract
While LeBron James isn’t in the NBA playoffs this season, King is still making noise despite being off the court.
James recently reminded fans on Instagram Story how Reebok once tried to give him $10 million USD to stop him from signing with Nike or Adidas. Apparently backfired, with James later signing a seven-year deal with Nike worth $90 million. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar reposted a post from Bleacher Report that said LeBron James’ Nike deal has a “$1 billion lifetime deal.” Along with the repost on his Instagram stories, LeBron James wrote, “The doctor is/will be crazy!!”
