Lauren Burnett is a graduate of Syracuse High School, class of 2018. She was a 6A Academic All State winner in her senior year. Coach B was a two-time Deseret News All Stater as a midfielder, and helped lead the Titans to back to back region titles.

Obituary:
Lauren Burnett of Mansfield, Georgia, a JMU (James Madison University) softball infielder, and the catcher died unexpectedly and suddenly.
JMU sophomore and student-athlete, Lauren Burnett passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, according to a statement issued by JMU President, Jonathan Algar.
Cause of Death:
The cause of his death was not given.
Our hearts are saddened to hear of the loss of one of our student-athletes. Lauren Burnett was the high-achieving member of our softball team and a great ambassador for JMU and our athletics program.
She was a key member of our 2021 Women’s College World Series team last year as a freshman catcher.
Dead:
Burnett has just been named Player of the Week by the Colonial Athletic Association after a 7-on-9 with the RBI family and four runs scored over the weekend to clean up Drexel.
This year’s young JMU team has experienced difficulties compared to recent seasons after losing star pitcher Odichi Alexander and most of his other starts since the 2021 season, but has won five games in a row and was able to possibly win a regular CAA season this weekend in the series against Delaware .

The 20-year-old second-year shooter from McDonald, Pennsylvania, has been a key player in Dukes ’2021 World Series of Women’s Colleges as a freshman.
The cause of Burnett’s death is not reported, however JMU Athletics provided resources for mental health and counseling in its post Tuesday.
