Originally the Oakland Raiders’ sixth-round draft pick in 2013 out of Central Florida (181st overall), the versatile back has brought his injury-prone style to black and gold, complementing Alvin Kamara. During his seven-year career, Murray has appeared in 93 games with 56 starts for the Raiders, Minnesota Vikings and Saints, 1,043 times for 4,337 yards (4.2 average) with 39 touchdowns and 162 for 639 yards. “I think his style is a great fit,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said before Friday’s practice. “His style fits what we do. You’ve seen our offense. I think you can very easily see him in our offense.”
Latavius Murray, who was scheduled to make $3.15 million in salary and bonuses this season, was abruptly cut Tuesday after the New Orleans Saints refused a pay cut.
Murray was added a day after he lost to Baltimore’s Gus Edwards, who tore his ACL on Thursday. Edwards is the third Ravens running back in the span of 12 days to succumb to a season-end injury.
