Coaching style

Back in 2010–11, Lambert was the head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL. They finished third in the league with 102 points… but were 14th in the league in terms of goals scored. I could be wrong about how this would happen, but my hunch is that this team will run the same system that Trotz pushed, focusing on defense over offense.

Lambert said, “The one thing that will never change is our identity.” “We want to be difficult to play against. That’s all we are and that will never change from our point of view.”

And while it would be great for owners Ilya Sorokin and Semyon Varlamov, the team’s skaters probably won’t see a big bump in production. Yes, every coach has their own favourite, and if a player becomes Lambert’s pet, he has an advantage. But there’s no way to know in advance who that would be.
