Press Conference:

“It a combination [of physicality at the line and pre-snap movement]. I think the majority of it is the use of tempo. People not lined up with cleats in the grass or disguising things with motion and different stuff in front of you. There’s a gap and the ball breaks. That’s what happened on the long run.

There were people going, the ball hit, and their guy fell back a gap. That’s kind of been what’s happened thought the year to be a top-five rushing team in the country. After that run we certainly didn’t look like it the rest of the day.”

Post game:

Kiffin led Ole Miss to a 31-21 win over Mississippi State Thursday night to get the Rebels (10-2, 6-2 SEC) in a position to earn a New Year’s Six bid. After the game, Kiffin talked about what made his team capable of setting schools records, what he likes about his defense and those cowbells.

I’m really grateful of our players that they could come here in a short week in a very hostile environment. I’ve been here one time before when I was at Alabama, but it was different. There was different energy in there. It really cost us on the early fourth down.

The guys rose to the occasion and found a way to win. They did it. It wasn’t easy. That’s a top-10 rush defense on the road. I’m just so proud of our guys. It’s just awesome to see them.

These fifth and sixth year seniors, what they’ve been through to get to this point. To watch them and just watch them sing there at the end and enjoy it, it was really neat.
