LaMelo LaFrance Ball (born August 22, 2001) is an American professional basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Ball began high school at Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California, where he won a state championship and achieved national success as a freshman with his older brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo. Before his junior season, a coaching dispute prompted him to leave Chino Hills and sign with Lithuanian professional team Prienai. In 2018, he played in the Junior Basketball Association (JBA), a league created by his father, before returning to high school as a senior with SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.

LaMelo Ball height officially listed at 6’8″ on Charlotte Hornets roster. LaMelo Ball’s height has been long speculated and even rumored ahead of the 2020 NBA draft. Much of the speculation originally centered on a photo of LaMelo standing next to brother Lonzo in which the two looked to be the same height. At the time, Lonzo was listed at 6-foot-7 on the Pelicans roster.

Thanksgiving was fairly free of trash talk for the Ball family despite Monday night’s impending matchup between brothers Lonzo and LaMelo when the Chicago Bulls hosted the Charlotte Hornets. Except, of course, for LaVar Ball, the well-known and outspoken patriarch of the family.
“My dad’s always talking,” Lonzo said with a grin after the shootaround ahead of Monday’s game. “As far as me and Melo, we haven’t really said too much … but obviously tonight we’ll match up against each other and we can’t wait.”
Lonzo faced his younger brother for the first time in a Bulls uniform in the 133-119 win over the Hornets at the United Center, but competition is nothing new for the brothers. The Balls almost always played on the same team as children, but it was a different story when they got home to their own hoop.

On December 11, 2017, Ball signed with Prienai of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) with his brother, LiAngelo. Ball reportedly became the youngest American to ever sign a professional basketball contract. The brothers’ move to Lithuania was heavily reported by American sports media. On January 13, 2018, Ball made his professional debut, going scoreless in five minutes against Lietkabelis. In an exhibition game toward the end of the month, he suffered a leg injury that sidelined him for a month. He finished the LKL season averaging 6.5 points and 2.4 assists, shooting 26.8 percent from the field, in 12.8 minutes per game.

As far as LaMelo is concerned, he might just be the most famous Ball brother at the moment, especially after winning the Rookie of the Year award back in June, having averaged 15.7 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game and 6.1 assists per game.
