The Lakers franchise began in 1947 when Ben Berger and Morris Chalafen of Minnesota bought the Detroit James of the recently disbanded National Basketball League (NBL) from James’s owner Maury Winston for $15,000. Minneapolis player Sid Hartman was instrumental in helping bring the deal and subsequent team together. Inspired by Minnesota’s nickname, “Land of 10,000 Lakes”, the team named itself the Lakers. Hartmann hired John Kundala from St. Thomas College to meet with them and sell them to the team, their helped him become the first head coach.
Score
Booker scored 22 of his 47 points in a phenomenal first quarter, and the Suns won their first playoff series since 2010, eliminating the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers with a 113-100 victory in Game 6 on Thursday night
After hitting eight 3-pointers, grabbing 11 rebounds and going a stunning 15 for 22 from the field, Booker cast his eyes up at Bryant’s two retired numbers as he left the floor amid the cheers from a small, vocal road rooting section. Kobe is never far from Booker’s mind on the court, but his breakthrough playoff game felt like a testimonial to Booker.

Rumors
One of the best signings of this past year was the Detroit Pistons signing Jerami Grant to a three-year, $60M deal. Grant made a name for himself last season in the NBA Bubble when the Denver Nuggets made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals, ultimately losing to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Everybody knew Jerami Grant was a really reliable and solid player, but I am not sure anybody, even the Pistons, expected Grant to have the breakout season he did. In 54 games with Detroit this year, the 27-year-old forward averaged 22.3 points (career-high), 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and shot 42.9% from the floor, 35.0% from three-point range.
Centers
Dating back all the way to 1960 when the Minneapolis Lakers became the Los Angeles Lakers, the franchise has seen centers ranked from decent to great to legendary. Power ranking the best centers to wear a Lakers uniform lends itself to a handful of names either in the NBA Hall of Fame or bound for it in the future.
By pulling off a four-team offseason trade and landing Dwight Howard in the process, the Lakers have once again added one of the league’s most dominant big men. This has become a common theme in Lakers lore, and fans have gotten used to watching some of the NBA’s biggest stars (literally) put up huge numbers for their favorite team Lakers Match.
