Deal
The Cincinnati Bengals made it to the Super Bowl in 2021 despite a formidable offensive line, so the front office prioritized the position group this off-season. His most recent addition is former Dallas Cowboys right-handed L’El Collins, who agreed to sign with Cincinnati on Sunday. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Collins gets a three-year, $30 million deal that looks like a two-year, $20 million deal adds up to $22 million. The third year of the deal was added to spread out Cinci’s cap charge.
Collins was released last week after the Cowboys failed to find a business partner. They were designated as the post-June 1 deduction that would give Dallas a $10 million savings. The 28-year-old registered an 82 PFF grade and allowed two sacks in 12 games he played last season, and figures being the new starter in perfect tackle for the Bengals.
College
In his true freshman year in 2011, Collins played seven games without a start. In a total of 46 snaps on the offensive line, he posted five knockdown blocks and was recognized as a Freshman All-American by CBSSports.com after the season. [5] As a sophomore, Collins started all 13 games for LSU, replaced Will Blackwell as left guard, and led the team in both total snaps (836) and knockdowns (64.5). He was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after playing all 84 offensive snaps.
Is good
Rarely, if ever, do you see a non-draft free agent entering training camp with many expectations. However, that’s exactly what will happen when L’El Collins reports at the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard, California.
Collins was considered a first-round pick; However, an unfortunate set of circumstances made him go without a draft in one of the strangest stories in NFL history.
This allowed the Cowboys to punctuate a notable off-season. After signing Collins, the Cowboys moved into the 2015 NFL Draft along with Byron Jones, Randy Gregory, and L’El Collins, arguably the three first-round talents.
Age
In a cramped hotel room the day before the NFL draft, speaking in front of a dozen of his relatives and close family friends, L’El Collins wept as he delivered the news: He was not walking on stage at the Auditorium Theater and he Were not hitting the gold carpet. Instead he was on his way back home to Baton Rouge, LA to answer questions in a murder investigation.
Brittany Mills, 29, Collins’ one-time romantic partner, was shot dead in her apartment six days earlier, and investigators wanted to know if her 10-year-old daughter had used Collins’ name during an interview with police. Why was it mentioned?
“It’s on me,” said L’El, according to one person who was in the hotel room. “It’s mine. I had nothing to do with it, but it’s affecting you all. I just feel bad that we’re not going to be able to live out our dream on the draft.”
