Kyrie Andrew Irving ( lit. ’Little Mountain’; born March 23, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was named Rookie of the Year after being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. A seven-time All-Star and a three-time member of the All-NBA team, he won the NBA Championship in 2016 with the Cavaliers.

Team history
Kyrie Andrew Irving is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, an NBA team. As a young boy, Irving was inspired by his father who was himself a professional basketball player. Having received both support and inspiration from his father, Irving was very active in sports during his high school days. He studied at Montclair Kimberley Academy and later St Patrick’s High School, being a prolific player in both schools. His proficiency in basketball earned him the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. During his career, he has won the NBA championship and also played for the United States national team, helping the team win the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Apart from sports, Irving has also made some television appearances. He guest-starred in an episode of Kickin’ It, a martial arts inspired comedy TV series that aired on Disney XD from 2011 to 2015. Irving sparked controversy in February 2017, when he said that the Earth is flat, contrary to what most people believe and what modern science claims. In a later interview, he was less aggressive, and encouraged people to do more research on the subject themselves.
