Is vaccinated

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has insisted he won’t change his stance if teammate Kevin Durant is injured after being hit by a COVID-19 vaccine.

Irving, who recently returned after a drawn-out standoff over vaccination, said Monday after losing to the Cavaliers he had no intention of getting the shot and nothing would affect him.

“It’s already my decision, and I stand by it,” Irving said.

The seven-time All-Star has become a lightning rod of sorts for his decision not to take the vaccine. And because of the COVID-19 mandate regarding public grounds in New York City, Irving is not allowed to play in home games.

His decision to go without vaccination is having a dramatic effect on the Nets and his potential for the NBA Championship, something that seemed almost convincing when the team landed Irving, Durant and James Harden. With Durant potentially sidelined for six weeks with a knee injury on Saturday, Irving was asked if he was feeling more pressure to be vaccinated. Irving clarified that he was not motivated to act.

“I think a lot comes through in this culture and basketball and sports and entertainment,” Irving said. “You bring in the teams and you bring in the conditions. Kev is going to be fine. Kev is going to be fine, and we have to deal with him as his teammates.

“But outside of where I am with my life, I am rooted in my decisions and that’s it. It’s not going to be blown away because of just one thing, it’s NBA life that somehow brought it to my attention.” It’s more important than what’s happening in the real world. It’s not happening to me.”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced on March 7 that he would remove vaccine requirements for indoor dining, fitness and entertainment venues if the city sees a low level of risk of the spread of COVID-19. However, the private sector will have a mandate. According to The Athletics shams Charaniya, there is still a ban on Nets star Kyrie Irving from playing in home games.

The mayor’s press secretary, Fabian Levy, confirmed the Athletic’s report. Adams determined that all this would happen if there were “no surprises this week”.

Irving has not been vaccinated and is only playing in the street for the Nets because of the city’s vaccination mandate. It looks like he will have to wait a bit longer to play at Barclays Center. However, he can now participate in home games as a spectator.

Irving has been the only star to be fit for the Nets in recent weeks. He averages 25.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists, while Kevin Durant recovers from a sprained MCL and newly acquired Ben Simmons deals with back pain per leg.

Wingspan

Kyrie Irving’s measurements (6-1 without shoes, 6-4 wingspan, 8-3 standing reach, 191 pounds) didn’t live up to the ridiculous standard set by John Wall (6-2 without shoes, 6-9 wingspan ) last season, and falls slightly short in terms of wingspan from Derrick Rose (6-1 1/2, 6-8 wingspan without shoes) and Russell Westbrook (6-2, 6-7 wingspan without shoes). However, he has the same height and standing reach as Deron Williams (6′ 1.75″ without shoes, 8-2 standing reach, 6-6 wingspan) and the same length (5-11 without shoes) as Chris Paul. 6- 4 wingspan, 7-9 standing reach), to put those comparisons into perspective.
