Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals have had a great start to the season so far. They are 7-1 and, despite losing to the Green Bay Packers in Week 8, the Cardinals are in a prime position for the playoffs.

At the end of the game versus the Packers, Murray suffered a lower leg injury.

Will Kyler Murray play the 49ers tonight in Week 9?
Kyler Murray’s involvement is unclear before today’s game against the San Francisco 49ers as he is battling an ankle injury to his left leg.

The former’s first overall pick has performed brilliantly and helped the Cardinals hold one of the best records in the NFL. Murray did not participate in any practice sessions this week.

Therefore their involvement is questionable.

Baker Mayfield says a trash talker of Kyler Murray: Browns vs. Cardinals

BERIA, Ohio – Kyler Murray defeated his Oklahoma predecessor Baker Mayfield in his first NFL matchup in 2019, but he isn’t putting undue pressure on his rematch Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium.

“It’s not bigger [than any regular season game],” Murray said on Wednesday via the Cardinals website. “We’re not going to make it the Super Bowl.”

Murray, leading the only remaining undefeated team 5–0, is an early MVP favorite with his excellent starts. He is ranked fourth with a passing rating of 113.0 and leads the league with a 75.2% completion percentage. He is also ranked No. 3 in ESPN’s QBR rankings with a grade of 68.5. He has 10 TDs against four interceptions and runs for three more.

Playing status

The quarterback is the deepest position in fantasy football, but even when the in-between QB is “suspected,” fantasy owners are forced to take notice. There is always a trickle-down effect when QB is out, as pass-catchers and even RBs can lose value. Coming to week 9, Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa, and Sam Darnold are all looking at what are like game-time decisions, and you can bet you start making them until the official active/passive report is released, let the decision sit. Will hang in the balance. Until then, we will be here with the latest injury updates.

Murray will take pre-game warmups with medical staff and coaches as he aims to assess his potential. Cliff Kingsbury said earlier this week that it would be a game-time decision for Murray.

Head coaches are hesitant to risk their star quarterback but may be tempted to start Murray in a big divisional game.

The Cardinals Are Being Wary of Their Franchise Quarterbacks
Cliff Kingsbury laid the law on Murray in the making of the game. The head coach feels that if Murray wants to play, he must be prepared to perform at a high level:

“We’re not going to put them out until he can work, he wants to play, so we’ll see.”
