The question is, what do you do when you find out that you are the villain of the story? It’s a shocking discovery because, unlike in movies, most people don’t want to be villains. Most people grow up imagining cheers, applause, promotions, awards and honors. Most people grow up with every intention of being a hero.

And then one day, Logano found himself in his car, walking into the winner’s circle in Talladega, the winner of the third race in a row, and it must be exactly as he had hoped, just as he had dreamed since then. Saw when he was a little kid sleeping in his little race car bed littered with little matchbox cars. Here was the victorious hero. Here was the star of NASCAR, the newest Richard Petty, the newest Bill Elliot, the newest Dale Earnhardt, the newest Jimmy Johnson.

Denny Hamlin upsets Alex Bowman for spinning in Martinsville
Hamlin still qualified for Championship 4 on 7 November in Phoenix.
Hamlin has a history of knocking out competitors in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs
If being a hypocrite requires a lot of paperwork, one should buy Denny Hamlin a box of No. 2 pencils. Don’t worry about the eraser, though. Hamlin knocked out rivals on a NASCAR racetrack, and there’s video evidence to confirm that.

The best part is that some of the videos are from Martinsville, where Hamlin and Alex Bowman fought last weekend. As much as Hamlin wants to complain about Bowman’s spinning, it has kept Chase Elliott and Joey Logano out of contention in playoff races for recent years.
