Announcement
Kyle Thomas Busch (born May 2, 1985) is a professional stock car racing driver and team owner from the United States.
He currently races full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for Joe Gibbs Racing in the No. 18 Toyota Camry and part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the No. 51 Toyota Tundra.
KBM operates a number of trucks in the Truck Series.
Busch won the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2009 and the Cup Series in 2015 and 2019.
Busch has also won the WWE 24/7 Championship once.
Childress
Richard Childress and Kyle Busch have both won NASCAR championships.
Both of them are fighters.
Will they, however, fight and win championships together?
That is the question facing Kyle Busch as he transitions from Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing next year.
Childress, a six-time champion car owner, and Busch, a two-time champion, announced the move Tuesday at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Bob Pockrass reacts to the announcement on Tuesday that Kyle Busch will join RCR in 2023.
Childress began his presentation by handing Busch a watch and asking him, “Will you hold my watch?”
It was a reference to their infamous fight in 2011, when Childress handed his watch to grandson Austin Dillon before putting Busch in a headlock and decking him after a truck race in Kansas.
Press conference
Kyle Busch announced Tuesday that he will not return to Joe Gibbs Racing, where he has driven since 2008 and won two NASCAR Cup Series Championships for Toyota and M&Ms, but will instead follow in the footsteps of Dale Earnhardt, to whom he has been compared for his racing style and ability.
The news that Busch was leaving the JGR stable came as no surprise, as their negotiations were perhaps the most closely watched in Cup Series history.
Busch is a first-ballot Hall of Fame driver who has 60 Cup Series victories, 102 Xfinity Series victories, and 62 truck series victories.
However, when M&M/Mars decided to discontinue its sponsorship, it placed Busch in jeopardy.
