Rocker attended North Oconee High School in Bogart, Georgia. As a junior in 2017, he had an earned run average (ERA) of 1.63 with 68 strikeouts in 55 2⁄3 innings.[1] During the summer of 2017, he won the Under Armor All-America Baseball Game and Perfect Game. Played in the All-American Classic.

Rocker’s father was fortunate enough to meet Mrs. Lalita Rocker, whom he later married. Coincidentally, both parents met in Washington DC when Rocker’s mom (Lalita Rocker) studied at the University of Maryland and her father played for the Washington football team.

Interestingly, Kumar Rocker’s maternal grandparents had migrated from India to the United States. No wonder his ethnicity is partly Asian (from India).

The American baseball player has been linked to more than one origin in his biography. Interestingly, Rocker’s mother is of Indian origin while his father traces his lineage to Africa and America. Therefore, Kumar Rocker’s ethnicity includes African-American and Indian roots.

Before the Phillies drafted a high school power pitcher, the Mets drafted a right-handed pitcher from Vanderbilt named Kumar Rocker at number 10.

Kumar Rocker, 21, is considered a top prospect as he helped lead Vanderbilt as a freshman to the College World Series title in 2019, when he was named the College World Series’ Most Outstanding Player.

He was part of a major 1-2 punch at Vanderbilt with Jack Leiter, who was the No. 2 overall pick (for Rangers) in this draft.

According to Ken Davidoff of the New York Post, the agreement between Rocker and the Mets is “untenable” because of the organization’s concerns about a right-handed pitcher’s elbow that was exposed during his physical.

10 overall in the 2021 draft, they reportedly came to an over-slot bonus agreement.

Davidoff noted that Rocker’s camp “disagreeed” with the physical concerns of the Mets and cited his permanence throughout his college career at Vanderbilt.
