Why isn’t Klay Thompson playing?

Klay Thompson hasn’t played an NBA game since the 2019 NBA Finals between the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors. The three-time NBA champion has missed two seasons in a row, which undoubtedly has had an impact on the team’s game. This season, Thompson injured his Achilles even before the pre-season games.

Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson has been ruled out for tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks due to a general illness, according to The Athletics’ Anthony Slater.

After 2 seasons of rehabilitation for lower leg injuries, Thompson returned in early January and has since played 17 of a possible 22 games. They missed five games, which were for precautionary reasons as the Warriors opted to slowly bring together Thompson, keeping Thompson out of back-to-back games.

In addition, he plays on a one-minute ban during Thompson’s game at Golden State. The good news is that as the season progresses, the team has gradually increased their restriction of minutes. Initially, Thompson was limited to 20 minutes per game, but after about two months, the restriction has now gone up to 30 minutes per game. Head coach Steve Kerr took it a step further, saying that Thompson should be able to play crucial playoff minutes when needed, according to this tweet from 95.7 The Game.

Is injured again

Klay Thompson was out for a damn close to 3 years. And as it looked like we finally got her back, things could turn around again.

For those who don’t know, Warrior suffered a traumatic injury in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. He went upstairs to take a dip. And when he did, so did contact with a Raptors defender, causing him to awkwardly land on his left foot.

It was later revealed that the landing caused a very serious ACL injury, something that kept him out for an entire year.

‘But hey! ACL injury is no longer the end of the world, is it? While it will take him some time to recover, he will be back in a year!’. As Warriors fans began to believe this mentality, Kel tore his Achilles tendon in his right leg. A far more serious injury, and therefore one that is very difficult to come back from.

That injury kept Thompson out for 1.5 years. But recently, the player was finally back on the court, and seemed to be in good shape.
